Policies

RESERVING A SPOT IN A CLASS OR WORKSHOP:

You must be a member in order to view the calendar and sign up for workshops. There is a $12 per year membership fee, and contract.  If your membership expires, your credits are suspended UNTIL you become a member again (so if you still have $40 in credits when you membership expires, you will not be able to use those credits UNTIL you pay for a new yearly membership).  No refunds will be issued because you do not want to continue with a membership.  However, credits ARE transferrable, so if you move, decide on a different career path, etc., and no longer wish to take workshops, you need to send us your friend's name and email, and we are happy to give them your credits.  They must be a member to use the credits.

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy on any one day workshops purchased in addition to your membership. You must cancel 48 hours in advance, and if you do, you will receive a credit back into your Actor's Key account to use whenever you want in the future. If it is within 48 hours of the workshop, you will only receive a credit if the spot is filled by another actor.  We do not issue refunds to credit cards for workshop cancellations for any reason.  Directions on how to cancel are under HOW TO CANCEL in the main menu.  You have to cancel on the website- we do not handle ANY cancellations via email or phone.  If there are extenuating circumstances, cancel on the website FIRST, then email us.

We also DO NOT issue refunds on packs that are bought.  As with workshop credits, these must be used during your membership.  If your membership expires, the pack credits will be suspended, and can be used when you renew your membership. If your membership expires, or if you move/change careers/etc., we can not issue pack credits.   We can transfer them to a friend, though, so please email us if you have this situation.

GENERAL RULES:

Our biggest rule is you MUST BE ON TIME.  You do have a grace period but must arrive by the end of the Q&A (or 15 minutes into the workshop, whichever comes first).  If you don't, and there is an actor on standby, we will give your spot away to that actor, and issue you a credit for a future workshop.

Occasionally, there are issues with an instructor arriving on time (traffic, casting sessions running long, wildfires, etc.).  If a CD is less than an hour late, we DO NOT issue credits for people who can't stay.  The exception is if someone has let us know ahead of time that they need to use a "go early", in which case, we will issue a credit.  Most workshops run about 3 hours or less- but some DO run over when an instructor is taking a lot of time with the actors, so please plan accordingly.  We do NOT issue credits because you decide to leave a workshop that you think is running long.  We respect your decision, but we can not be issuing credits for teachers wanting to spend extra time with our students!

Each actor is allowed 3 "go earlies" a year (so people don't take advantage, and so they are really reserved for emergency or really important situations)- but you MUST be there 15 minutes before when you have a "go early" or you forfeit the early spot and will just be on the list where you would normally be.  You MUST EMAIL 24 hours before a workshop in order to use an "early" (you can't just tell the reader when you show up that you have to leave), and you must receive a confirmation email back that we have received your request in order to confirm that you can indeed use it.  Please note that you can not use an early pass for a "format departure" workshop that is in a class setting (everyone in the room- these are rare, but they do happen, and this is specifically listed in the workshop description).

PLEASE NOTE:

Each of our instructors are scheduled in advance. If there are changes to their schedules or their resumes (where they work, who they work for), we cannot be held responsible- this is truly part of the business, and the shows are there to let you know their experience as you choose who you want to learn from. We will try to get you as much information as quickly as we can if there are any changes. If instructors have to cancel unexpectedly we will inform you ASAP and reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Actor's Key reserves the right to terminate membership at any time. By submitting information, the actor agrees to release The Actor's Key of any liability.  If you choose to terminate your membership, you may not join again in the future (in certain extreme cases, if you wanted to "suspend" a membership, we may be able to work something out, so please email us if you find yourself in an extreme situation).

For  correspondence, we prefer that you use email.  We have a late line if you are running late to a workshop only.

Disclaimer: Workshops/Classes are NOT job interviews.  The presence of an industry professional is in no way a promise of employment. The Actor's Key does NOT attempt to procure employment for actors/artists-we are strictly for educational purposes.
