The Day Of Your Workshop
What to expect the day of your workshop:
CHECK IN: Doors open 30 minutes before the first workshop of the day. Please check in with the receptionist. If you have emailed us about using an early pass, and received a confirmation email that you can, be sure to mention this. Also, be sure to check if there are spots open in any of the other workshops (even full ones! Sometimes people don't show up!).
You will need to hand the receptionist your reader's copy of your sides in order to check in. Be sure you have brought them a copy with their lines highlighted. If you only have a copy for yourself, and need to make a copy, you will be charged $1 to make the copy (copy ink is expensive, and with so many people coming through each night, we can't offer free copies). You also will not be able to check in until you have your sides handed over, and will not be placed on the list until you have that copy, so please be aware that not having your sides ready may cause you to be further down on the list for performances. We do not allow you to print sides at the studio, as the computers are being used for check in. If you MUST print your scene there, you will be placed last on the order list, so that the receptionist can print your scene after everyone has started their workshops. You will be charged $1 to print your scene.
ONCE EVERYONE IS CHECKED IN:
FIRST: We will always start the workshop with a Question and Answer period. This will involve the casting director and everyone in the room. Please bring any questions you have for their office, projects and the business!
SECOND: Each actor will go in one at a time to perform his or her chosen scene with a reader for the casting director. (We feel that this allows the CD to truly focus on each person and not have to split time between participants.) The casting director will work on the scene giving re-adjustments and advice and fill out the evaluation sheet.
THIRD: After the one on one time, each actor will receive the written evaluation from the casting director. (This allows the actor to gain the knowledge of what the casting director enjoyed and what the actor might need to improve on). Don't forget to wait for your evaluation sheet!
Then you are free to go after that.
A few more things to remember:
- Do I have the proper sides prepared? Our standard format is for you to bring prepared sides from our website to perform. Each workshop will say what genre the instructor wants to see (or it will say "ANY", meaning "Any Genre" or "CD SIDES", meaning you must choose only from these sides). If you would prefer to bring something of your own, you need to have it approved. Instructions and rules about this can be seen by clicking HERE). Make sure you have TWO copies with you (one for you and one HIGHLIGHTED for the reader) We will always post a note in the casting director's description if the format is going to be different for a particular workshop! And remember, we charge $1 to make a copy of your scene, so PLEASE bring your own copy for the reader to avoid this!
- Do I need to use an early pass? If you DO, you MUST request it by sending an EMAIL to actorskey@gmail.com at least 24 hours ahead of time, and RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL BACK. If you do not receive a confirmation, you are not guaranteed the early spot.
- While each guest clears this format, we are not responsible for any changes they may choose to make during the workshop!
- The multiple week classes will each be uniquely formatted based upon the teacher- check on the class descriptions (in the calendar section) to get full details!
