The Day Of Your Workshop
What to expect the day of your workshop:
CHECK IN:
Please click HERE to understand how we handle creating the order, and information on using an early pass.
YOUR SIDES:
You will need to hand the receptionist your reader's copy of your sides in order to check in. Be sure you have brought them a copy with their lines highlighted. If you only have a copy for yourself, and need to make a copy, you will be charged $1 to make the copy (copy ink is expensive, and with so many people coming through each night, we can't offer free copies).
To make sorting the sides at the studio easier (especially with many of you taking more than one workshop in a night)- we ask that you write (in pencil, so you can erase it later ) the name of the workshop the sides are for at the top right corner of the sides.
So make sure you have (on the copy you will hand in for your reader) the name of the workshop in the top right corner, and the reader's lines highlighted. We can not check you in without this.
Again, you will not be able to check in until you have your sides handed over, and will not be placed on the list until you have that copy, so please be aware that not having your sides ready may cause you to be further down on the list for performances.
We do not allow you to print sides at the studio, as the computers are being used for check in. If you MUST print your scene there, you will be placed last on the order list, so that the receptionist can print your scene after everyone has started their workshops. You will be charged $1 to print your scene.
ONCE EVERYONE IS CHECKED IN:
- FIRST: We will always start the workshop with a Question and Answer period. This will involve the casting director and everyone in the room. Please bring any questions you have for their office, projects and the business!
- SECOND: Each actor will go in one at a time to perform his or her chosen scene with a reader for the casting director. (We feel that this allows the CD to truly focus on each person and not have to split time between participants.) The casting director will work on the scene giving re-adjustments and advice and fill out the evaluation sheet.
- THIRD: After the one on one time, each actor will receive the written evaluation from the casting director. (This allows the actor to gain the knowledge of what the casting director enjoyed and what the actor might need to improve on). Don't forget to wait for your evaluation sheet! Then you are free to go after that.
***While each guest clears this format, we are not responsible for any changes they may choose to make during the workshop. Also- some multiple week, and special one day classes, will each be uniquely formatted based upon the teacher- check on the class descriptions (in the calendar section) to get full details!
Do I have the proper sides prepared?
- Our standard format is for you to bring prepared sides from our website to perform. Each workshop will say what genre the instructor wants to see (or it will say "ANY", meaning "Any Genre" or "CD SIDES", meaning you must choose only from these sides). If you would prefer to bring something of your own, you need to have it approved. Instructions and rules about this can be seen by clicking HERE).
